Marquise Pools uses AutoCAD and Micro Station which are CAD programs. We then combine those design programs into Pool Studio. A lot of pool companies use Pool Studio but they’re not using Pool Studio the way Marquise Pools uses Pool Studio.

The difference is that we take the drone shots and the site plans and we create composites out of those. Why that is important is that when we go into Pool Studio with that composite, we don’t just see the site survey. We see the sprinkler valves. We see the existing trees. We see the drain lines. We see the fencing. We see all the things affecting these properties on all four sides. A survey is not going to show you that. So, when we pull a drone shot up where’s the gas meter? Oh, there it is. Where’s the electrical meter? Oh, there it is. Where’s the drainage easement go? How’s this water flowing off the site?

We use the technology to allow our landscape architecture skills to take proper inventory of the site. And when you take proper inventory of the site, and that means accurate inventory, i.e. sewer lines, drainage easement, gas meters, electric meter, you’re able to do a more accurate design plan.

Then when you take that into pool studio, it creates a real 3D accurate environment. Pool Studio’s a paint brush. You can have crappy painters and you can have really artistic painters. It’s still a paint brush. So putting that paint brush in the right hands of someone that is creative and understands design, like at Marquise Pools, allows the program to really shine. When you combine good designers with really high-quality paint brushes, your paintings are worth more money.

The end result is we get better materials, better textures, better composition, with a person trained as an interior designer versus having one of the sales guys come out with three different colors of travertine and say “here, pick one”. That’s not what we’re about. We recognized a hole in the industry right there because a lot of pool companies, they’ll go take three or four over there and say “hey, this is what’s in stock, pick it”. We weren’t satisfied with that.

We wanted to really press and look for unique textures and unique tiles and create again, the difference. We take that difference at all levels at Marquise Pools. And one of those is material selection because picking the right materials is like icing on the cake on a great design.

You can have a wonderful looking outdoor pool, crappy looking materials, and it’s not going to work. The client’s not going to be happy. What we do is we want a great design, a great look for the house and wonderful unique impressive materials. Now we have a system in place that creates a whole selection process with one on one designers. So, we love that.
